Carlo Alducente

Front-end Developer

I'm located in Toronto, currently working as Development Lead at BabyRobot.

I have been a Flash Developer for the majority of my career, with HTML/CSS & Javascript as secondary weapons of choice.

I have previously worked at Mindblossom, PUSH Interactive, Capital C, and Zinc Roe Design, creating microsites, online tools, and casual games.

At Sheridan College, I completed both the Art Fundamentals(2005) program and Interactive Multimedia(2006) program.

On my spare time, I like to learn and teach myself photography and maintain my growing camera collection. And yes, I still use film and process them in my basement on occasion.

Stella And Sam, Playhouse Disney Canada

Microsite + Video + Mini Games

Stella and Sam is an online experience for children based on the television series. It's a flash interactive website that contains games, printable activities, and "stories" that engage kids through creativity and imagination.

My responsibilities for this project included the creation of the Stella and Same website, as well as creating prototypes for each mini game.

Total Drama World Tour, FreshTV

Mini Games

Zinc Roe was responsible for creating a website that was used to promote the start of Total Drama World Tour, the third season of the Total Drama cartoon series. My responsibilities included programming a list of games and "behind the scenes" features from prototype stage to the finished product. As a result, I worked on a total of 13 mini games and features, each one taking anywhere between 14 to 21 hours to prototype.

2009 Autoshow, Nissan Canada

Microsite + Video

A microsite created to promote the Nissan Cube for the 2009 Canadian Autoshow. My role for this project involved programming the site and working closely with the video editor in order to implement the animated transitions. This site was created during my time at Capital C.

Education Is Everywhere, Toshiba Canada

Microsite

This is a microsite for Toshiba's Education is Everywhere campaign created in 2007 for the release of their new laptops. Working under the guidance of a senior developer at PUSH Interactive, my role as flash developer involved programming the home page "see and say", "What's your party drink?" trivia, "Campus Gourmet" feature, as well as the code that let us dangle various display objects from the top of the screen.

This microsite won the "FWA Site of the Day" on September 4, 2007. It was also a 2008 Applied Arts Interactive Award winner, as well as a Webby Awards Honoree for "Best Use Of Animation Or Motion Graphics".

AS3 Webcam Experiments

Flash Motion & Edge Detection

A collection of experiments that uses flash to detect motion and edges through the user's webcam. This started as casual research to see if the technology could be used as an interface for games, but eventually lead to an AS3 library meant to be used as a starting point for further prototyping.

AS3 Web Service

A class package that enabled AS3 developers to communicate with web services with ease, similar to the web service class that Adobe had provided with AS2. It was originally created to fill a gap when using ASP.NET services, but many developers have modified it for their own needs.
